Therapist
Daniel McCarthy is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) who works with adolescents and adults experiencing substance use, mental health, and trauma-related concerns. He earned his Master of Education in Counseling and Personnel Services from University of Louisville and has experience providing therapy in outpatient, school-based, and community settings.
Throughout his career, Daniel has provided individual and group counseling for adolescents and adults navigating substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. His professional experience includes outpatient counseling, school-based mental health services, adolescent substance use treatment, and community-based programming that supports youth and families.
Daniel takes a collaborative, person-centered approach to counseling and believes lasting change occurs when individuals feel supported, empowered, and understood. He is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and incorporates EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed practices into his work. Daniel believes recovery is about more than overcoming challenges—it is about building a meaningful, connected life that aligns with an individual’s values and goals. He strives to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring challenges and pursuing personal growth.
Outside of work, Daniel enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, reading, and playing video games.
