Gerri Brown, LPCA, TCADC, APSS, TCM

Gerri was born and raised in Louisville and graduated from the University of Louisville in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. Immediately upon graduation, she began her master’s program at UofL’s School of Education, earning a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology with a community counseling focus. Gerri currently holds an LPCA (Licensed Professional Counselor Associate), TCADC (Temporary Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor), and is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy for treating trauma and emotional challenges.

Gerri has worked in the field of addiction for over 18 years, gaining experience in residential and outpatient treatment settings, providing individual and group counseling, targeted case management, and peer support services. During the past 10 years, she has worked in a medication-assisted treatment program battling the opioid crisis. She was one of a team of three who developed programs and opened the doors of this clinic, which saved lives and helped hundreds of individuals and families. Gerri understands that co-occurring mental health disorders and trauma are gateways to addiction and works to treat the “whole person.” She believes kindness, compassion, and empathy are keystones to a strong therapeutic relationship and wants each of her clients to feel supported and valued.

Gerri enjoys spending time with her four “kids” – two adult human sons and two Shih Tzu pups. She also enjoys reading, bike riding, hiking, and listening to all genres of music.
